Lyon St Exupery Airport was opened in 1975 to provide a larger facility for France's third city as Lyon Bron airport could not be extended. Since then it has become an important and busy airport providing skiers and snowboarders with lots of options on both charter, budget and major national carriers. It is conveniently located on the outskirts of Lyon near the motorway so access is normally quick and easy. While transfers to most ski resorts are a little longer from Lyon it provides a great alternative to Geneva particularly for the resorts in the Savoie region.
Once you have landed you will be directed through passport control and into the baggage claim area. Luggage trolleys take 1 euro coins in Lyon and the airport give out free tokens in case you don't have the right coin with you. When you have been reunited with your luggage exit the baggage hall into the arrivals area where you should see your driver waiting for you. They will be holding a Skiidy Gonzales board with the lead name on it. Simply say hello and you will be looked after. There are 2 terminals in Lyon so your driver will be parked and waiting in the appropriate location for your flight.
If for some reason you are unable to see your driver then please call our operations centre on +33450373685.
Weekends during the winter are very busy on the roads of the French Alps. Saturday is the traditional ski changeover day and continues to be the busiest day of the week. Our procedures are the same every day so your driver will be waiting for you on arrival and will be able to provide an update on the road conditions and expected journey time.
On your departing transfer we will collect you from your accommodation in resort (pick up times sent by SMS the day before) and take you to Lyon Airport. The departure procedure is simple and utilises a quick drop lane close to the terminals so you do not have to trudge from the car parks. Trolleys are available and it is very close to the entrances to the check in areas.
